Departure

i, north, thee, south. air sail'd drawn farewell
cradle song i miss bamboo breaking be bent
feet o' thine press'd roads o' foreign land
for so mine breath o' life laced in shady sand

thou, modern maid drench'd in gold'n  toil
nursed poem o' bills to sleep thine wages
rode on roughness for ode to mine ages
i heard thine ripples o' sweat, tears on soil

for flesh o' third world caged in depression.
father oh danced to woman Gretchen.
sea of air's advent chant's out of tune
as distance dire dwell in borne autumn.

arrived thou in a wooden box
furbished like Pope's niche. death o' hush'd and calm?
oh ruth gay in gale's emanation
slasht ye vows. gift of lamentation

glides thine deaf eye in me as daffodil
grown baby and young on crack cement
i east thee west trail the grey decent
for daylight borne o' departure's sequel.
